Snow comment:

JAN 30
Schober's was best along the sides in the sun yesterday. Some nice skiing on mellower pitches skiers right of Sun Bowl. There is groom down skiers left today on Sunset and Marker's. Soft natural snow was in good shape again skiers right of Founders, with both Strobl and McIntosh Way impressing. Great conditions on the groom through both terrain parks, keeping it flat approaching the prominent features.
Some new openings of Orca, Mocha and Latte through the Extreme Dream Zone cliffband yesterday. The ground beneath is rocky, so proceed with caution. The boundary line in Taynton has also pushed out to include Jekyll & Hyde and Stash. Expect some nice turns up there, with more work required as you head toward the lower drainages.

Status Quo in Taynton Bowl late January:
Wider planks will be helpful if you seek the untracked; if you are precious about your gear, be advised: you are likely to hit hazards, although more cellulose based than mineral! Thicker, settled snow is difficult to turn in, and flatter spots should be avoided as you lose momentum quickly. Day on day, more tracks concentrating through the lower sections of drainages will give more reliable, soft pack conditions that will improve ease of travel. Have an eye for open creek sections through the ski outs.

Nordic and multi-use trails out of Greywolf have a mix of daily and semi-regular groom, with selected trackset on the XC trails. Please check our Nordic webpage, or direct at the Nordic Centre for more detailed information.

Today’s outlook:

JAN 30
Some sun, with cloud increasing later in the day. Light to mild SW winds at summit, with some stronger gusts possible at times. Calm to light winds on lower slopes. The persistent inversion continues today as warm air aloft traps the colder air in the valley overnight. The rapid rise of village mercury got to -5C before noon yesterday, so expect similar today, for PM temperatures in the minus single figures at all elevations.
