DEC 26 - last day for your Snowcard purchases!!!
Merry Taynton Xmas, as Outback Ridge gates opened to boundary ropes at Never Never Land around noon yesterday! First tracks out there found fun turns in the bootpacked start zone, then into thick, settled powder, becoming more bottomless into the lower half with a greater chance of finding hidden hazards. Towards the ski out, skiers right on the packed path through the meadows is your best bet, with lots of alder and creek exposure on the left. The last pitch to Landing Strip is vastly changed - opened right up all the way along skiers right of the creek. A Ktunaxa lap had thick, settled powder turns all the way down skiers left of C-Spine. Stinger rated well for cruisy turns, while the mellow terrain into Funnel is soft packed. Upper Funnel, take pause to navigate, as it's thick alder skiers right, and exposure coming in from skiers left.
In general - wider planks will be helpful; rock skis are recommended as you are likely to find hazards; thicker, settled snow is difficult to turn in, and flatter spots should be avoided as you lose momentum quickly. However, there are sweet turns in the top half - fortune favours the bold!
Millennium had a mix of soft packed bumps, soft loose and tracked powder. Good skiing which I think will improve with further traffic. As expected, Ostrander was more a leveling than a cord groom, with the soft snow a really nice feel underfoot. A first groom of the year through skiers left Sun Bowl on Sunset and Markers Mark will likely come out pretty similarly.

Nordic and multi-use trails out of Greywolf have a mix of heavy and light groom, with selected trackset on the XC trails. Fresh groomed trails have been in excellent shape lately! Please check our webpage, or direct at the Nordic Centre for more detailed information.
